After a rest from the drive we decided to go to Whits Sands, on the
way there it started raining, this may not seem like much to be excited
about unless you think about the fact that it may only rain a few times
a year, so to happen to be there on one of the days it rains is extremely
rare. Once we got to the park we decided to do a little hiking, so off
across the barren landscape we went. After walking for a while we came
across a strange tall sand structure. The structure was probably 45
to 50 feet tall with a large bush on top, the bushes roots were what
were keeping the structure together. I walked around the structure looking
it over, I decided i needed to climb the sand tower. Using only the
roots to pull myself up to the top, once I arrived at the top and stood
up I found I was by far the tallest structure for miles in all directions
and with a storm rolling in as you can see from the dark billowing clouds,
bringing with it lightning and thunder, I decided that I only had time
for a few pictures before a fast climb back down.
After walking back to the car in light rain we decided to head back
to get some dinner. By this time it had gotten very cold, and the wind
had started blowing, so the wind chill was dropping fast.
